A Perfect Day
A Perfect Day by Lukas Herzog
It was a fantastic morning, and the sun was shining brightly in the sky, casting a warm feeling of nirvana over all of the town’s optimistic denizens. In a charming little blue house lived a wonderful and caring young girl named Betty. Betty laid in her bed, enjoying the smell of bacon sizzling on the stovetop downstairs. With a feeling of confidence and fervor, she put on her favorite pair of blue slippers and stepped down the stairs.
“Good morning sweetie,” her mom.
“I made you your favorite meal.”
“Thank you so much, Mom” replied Betty as she sat down and began to eat. The bacon tasted perfect and it had a pleasant crispy texture. Betty smiled.
“Today’s Saturday, so I thought it would be a perfect time to go to the beach!” remarked Betty’s dad.
“Awesome,” said Betty. “Can my friends come with me?”
“Absolutely!” said her Dad.
…
About 4 hours later Betty and her parents returned home from the beach, along with her friend. “Can Polly and I have a sleepover tonight?” asked Betty.
“There couldn’t be a more perfect time,” replied Betty’s mother with a smile on her face.
“Let’s go watch the stars outside!” said Polly.
“What a splendid idea!” answered Betty.
Both of the girls rushed outside to the patio and sat at the table watching the gorgeous night sky.
“Wow!” said Betty, pointing at the sky. A beautiful red comet streaked across the sky.
It crashed into the earth causing a fiery cataclysm that engulfed the everything, turning all life forms to a fine black dust. In Betty’s last moment of consciousness, she thought to herself
“What a spectacular world…”
